After a brief break the EAS is back in action! This spring we will be headed to San Francisco to attend the Epilepsy Pipeline conference (http://www.epilepsy.com/accelerating-new-therapies/2014-epilepsy-pipeline-conference-program) we will be there on Saturday for the family day events so come and meet us if you want to! We’ve started fundraising at the Penticton farmers market so come out Saturdays and show your support!
We’ve added a story feature on our webpage. If you are interested in contributing a story about how epilepsy has impacted your live, check it out here.
We have many exciting new ideas we are planning so stay posted!
We had a busy few months with the Epilepsy Awareness Squad. In September we participated in the Summerland Fall Fair raising awareness for Epilepsy in our own home town. We met some really cool people and had a great time while doing so.
We also participated in our last Farmer’s Market of the year in Penticton. Despite the wind threatening to blow our tent away, we sold a few crafts and were able to talk to people about Epilepsy.
In October, we were contacted by Teenfest Canada and are thrilled to announce that we will be participating with the Centre for Epilepsy Education in Teenfest Canada’s Fraser Valley event on February 1st. More details can be found here: http://teenfest.ca/category/fraser-valley-teenfest/exhibitors-fraser-valley/health-wellness-fraser-valley-teenfest/.
In November, Caitlin and Dan gave two short presentations at Summerland Middle School. These were well received and we hope to give more presentations at schools in the coming year. We also presented to the District Parent Advisory, telling them what we are doing and asking them to help us raise awareness with schools.
We also had a number of planning meetings in November, where we conducted serious EA Squad business (and had spontaneous episodes of cooking followed by eating).
Finally, we are very excited to announced that Caitlin was selected as one of 12 provincial representatives to sit on the Healthy Living Youth Council in BC.
It’s been a busy fall and we are looking forward to having an equally productive winter!
